Keeping the Home Fires Burning
Set off by glass doorknobs and cut beveled glass French doors, the viewer is allowed to peer into the private world of a young family as Mother gazes longingly out the window, perhaps waiting for the arrival of her loving husband, and the children read books and play on the floor.
A warm fire burns brightly in the fireplace as the flames reflect upon the family and catch in rainbows of colour on the multiple sections of glass in the Parlour doors.
What cannot be seen via internet is the addition of a three-dimensional compound added to all the highlights that give this painting dimension that distinguishes the original from all reproductions. This 3D highlight appears on the door knobs and all the sections of glass giving this painting the realism of three-dimensional beveled glass.
